How to Apply for PAN Card
Step 1: Gather Required Documents
For Indian Citizens (Form 49A):
- Proof of Identity: Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving license, passport, or ration card
- Proof of Address: Aadhaar card, utility bill, bank statement, voter ID, or ration card
- Proof of Date of Birth: Birth certificate, school certificate, or passport
- Passport Size Photo: Recent color photo (3.5cm x 2.5cm)
For Aadhaar-based e-KYC (Instant PAN):
- Only Aadhaar card is required
- Mobile number linked with Aadhaar
- Email ID
- No documents upload needed
Step 2: Apply Online
Option 1: NSDL Portal
- Visit NSDL portal: https://www.tin-nsdl.com
- Click on "Services" → "PAN" → "Apply for New PAN Card"
- Select "Form 49A" (for Indian citizens)
- Fill in all personal details
- Enter address details
- Upload scanned documents (PDF/JPEG, max 1MB each)
- Upload passport size photo
- Review and submit the application
Option 2: UTIITSL Portal
- Visit UTIITSL portal: https://www.utiitsl.com
- Click on "PAN Card Services"
- Select "Apply for New PAN Card"
- Fill the application form
- Upload required documents
- Submit the application
Option 3: Aadhaar-based e-KYC (Fastest Method)
- Visit NSDL or UTIITSL portal
- Select "Apply for PAN using Aadhaar"
- Enter Aadhaar number
- Verify with OTP sent to registered mobile
- Details will be auto-filled from Aadhaar
- Pay fees and submit
- PAN will be issued in 2-3 working days
Step 3: Pay Fees
- After submitting the form, proceed to payment
- Select payment method (online payment, demand draft, or cheque)
- Pay the required fee (see fees section below)
- Note down the acknowledgment number
- Print the acknowledgment receipt
Step 4: Receive PAN Card
- Track application status using acknowledgment number
- PAN will be processed and printed
- You'll receive SMS/email notification
- PAN card will be delivered via Speed Post to your registered address
- Sign and collect the card from postman
- Verify all details on the PAN card
Reprint Lost/Damaged PAN Card

- Enter your PAN number
- Enter date of birth
- Enter captcha code
- Pay reprint fee of ₹50
- Submit the request
- New PAN card will be delivered to your registered address
Link PAN with Aadhaar
- Visit Income Tax e-Filing portal: https://www.incometax.gov.in
- Go to "Link Aadhaar" section
- Enter your PAN number
- Enter Aadhaar number
- Enter name as per Aadhaar
- Enter date of birth
- Enter gender
- Enter captcha code
- Click "Link Aadhaar"
- Verify with OTP sent to registered mobile
- Linking is free of cost
